As most people know, reading about Chemistry or Chemistry related topics usually involves lengthy textbooks and a monotonous writing tone. Sometimes, well, most of the time, this scares people away from Chemistry. There are some really cool books out there though!
The Radioactive Boyscout, by Ken Silverstein, is an awesome real life story about a kid who builds a homemade nuclear reactor. David Hahn, “the radioactive boyscout,” obtained various radioactive materials and managed to build a small nuclear reactor in a shed outside of his house. The book goes into detail about where he obtained the materials and how he made the reactor. It’s extremely interesting from an amateur chemist’s perspective and a really cool story to everyone!
I would strongly recommend this book to anyone who has any interest in science. It’s a quick, fun read!
