The other week I ordered the book Mad Science: Experiments You Can Do At Home But Probably Shouldn’t, by Theodore Gray. The title enticed me to buy it… anything that says “probably shouldn’t” translates to “this is gunna’ be awesome” in my mind. At any rate, it’s a very interesting book that I would recommend.
Although some of the experiments could be done at home, most require supplies and chemicals that are either nearly impossible to get or own without having the FBI knocking on your door or are so ridiculously expensive that it’s prohibitive. However, a few experiments in the book come along with adequate procedures and could be done at home.
Even though I was slightly disappointed that the “probably shouldn’t” part of the title was quite accurate, I thoroughly enjoyed reading about the experiments and looking at the amazing photography of the experiments in action. I can’t stress enough how outstanding the photography in this book is. It’s well worth the money.
I’ll provide a link to Amazon if you’d like to purchase the book; check on eBay or half.com as well.
