How Table Salt Can Be Made

Table salt, simply NaCl, is usually found in nature all ready to be used on your dinner table. However, if you’re dorky and want to make your own this is how you’d do it:

The reaction is Na + Cl –> NaCl. It’s that simple. The light being emitted might look like light you’ve seen elsewhere- streetlamps. Sodium lighting produces a very bright yellow light. It’s a pretty basic but very cool chemistry reaction.
